Architects, artists and citizens have an opportunity to tackle this question in the Future Cities Charrette starting tomorrow evening. With the city working on a 30-year plan Growth Related Integrated Development Strategy (GRIDS), the charrette comes at an ideal time.
The Hamilton and Burlington Society of Architects is putting together three teams of architects, artists, planners, politicians, developers, students, landscape architects, historians, business persons and citizens who will have two days to prepare their vision for a future Hamilton.
The charrette project begins with a free public lecture at 7 pm on Thursday, given by a group of British artists and architects. That takes place in the old Bank of Montreal space on the second level of Jackson Square. The entrance is inside the mall between the LCBO and PAM's coffee.
The public is also invited back on Friday to watch the teams in action, and on Saturday at 1 pm to view their results. For more information visit www.architecturehamilton.com.
