Residents Want Lake Access Retained
August 9, 2005

City council has received a petition of 97 residents of the Lakewood Landing neighbourhood asking that access to Lake Ontario be retained at the north end of Gray's Road. An earlier plan to block access was rejected, but two individuals are appealing that decision.

Gray's Road forms the eastern boundary of Confederation Park, and the Lakewood Landing area is located on the east side of Grays. Access to the lake within the neighbourhood itself is restricted to private owners. There is public access in Confederation Park only when its eastern gate is open.

The petition is on the agenda of Wednesday's council meeting with a recommendation that it be referred to staff for a report. It can be viewed at http://www.city.hamilton.on.ca/clerk/agendas-minutes-reports/
