Usually meets:
Second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 1:30 pm

Mandate:
To report and make recommendations to Council on matters relating to: the establishment, management, and control of recreational and cultural programs and services; Cultural and Recreational services; the delivery of protective services including fire operations, fire prevention, emergency medical services, emergency planning and preparedness and mobile communications.

Note that this committee was combined with the Social and Public Health Services Committee for the last half of 2004 and called Public Health and Community Services Committee. Reports for this combined committee were posted under the Social and Public Health Services Committee section.

Specific duties include:

• To consider and recommend to Council on policy matters relating to recreation services, cultural affairs and multi-cultural matters
  
  
• To consider and recommend to Council on special events/occasions
  
  
• To consider and recommend to Council on emergency services including fire protection, fire prevention, emergency medical services, emergency planning and preparedness and mobile communications
  
  
• To receive delegations from the public and conduct public hearings as required by statute and Council
