5.2 Shareholder Consent - Proposed Name Change of " Hamilton Housing Corporation" to "CityHousing Hamilton Corporation" (SPH05010)
No discussion. Carried. (Jackson/Bratina)

Report notes that since 2004, the City has amalgamated 6 individual housing corporations. New name is to alleviate confusion with tenants. No staffing or financial implications to the City.

6. DELEGATIONS - None.

7. STAFF PRESENTATIONS - None.

8. DISCUSSION ITEMS

8.1 Sexual Health and Sexually Transmitted Diseases Clinic Business Process Review Recommendation Report (SPH05009)
No discussion. Carried. (Bratina/Morelli)

Report for information only . Basically, a review is underway to reorganize how Sexual Health and Sexually Transmitted Diseases programs are delivered. Primary target populations are adolescents under 20 years and high risk adults to 24 years. Currently there are 6 area clinics. An earlier proposal suggested that 3 clinics (Ancaster, Waterdown, Dundas ) be closed. (See executive summary for reasons.) Councillors from these areas expressed concern, so a community consultation process is taking place from January to March, 2005. Currently, services are still being offered at all clinics and the consultation is ongoing.

8.2
Tenant Advisory Committee (SPH05013)
Discussion about expanding the number of members who sit on this committee from 7 to 9;(3 community groups and 6 tenants), and a committee was struck to interview for these 2 new members (McHattie and Bratina)
Carried.

8.3 Pay Equity Funding - Child Care (SPH0501 7)
Discussion provided information that the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services is now asking Hamilton and other municipalities to contribute 20% of the pay equity funding the Ministry has promised to eligible Child Care Operators at a cost of $31,099 for 2004-05. Joanne Priel, Head of Hamilton 's Public Health and Community Services is refusing because because this new request is in breach of an earlier commitment by the Ministry to pay 100% of the costs. This report is asking Council to distribute only the funding provided by the Ministry and correspond with the Ministry to advocate that the Province provide 100% of the funding as stated in a 2003 agreement.
Carried. (Bratina/Morelli)

Meeting Adjourned at 10:05.
