Introduction

Members:
Mayor DiIanni (as Chair) plus the chairs of each of the other five Standing Committees – Dave Braden, Phil Bruckler, Brian McHattie, Dave Mitchell, Terry Whitehead.

Usually meets:
First and third Wednesdays of each month at 1:30 pm

Mandate:
To report and make recommendations to Council on matters relating to the development and update of the City’s Strategic Plan; policy direction and prioritization relating to business planning; the current and capital budgets including consideration of Grants; internal/external audits

Specific duties include:

• To review and monitor, in conjunction with Council, the City’s and Council’s Strategic Plan
  
  
• To review corporate and program objectives and performance measures and make recommendations to Council with respect to the business planning framework including corporate performance measures
  
  
• To consider and recommend to Council on matters of policy relating to budgets, budget monitoring, re-assessment and related tax policies
  
  
• To consider and recommend to Council all audit matters, including promoting an appropriate environment for the management of public funds and a high level of accountability. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies and support high standard of ethical conduct
  
  
• To consider and make recommendations to Council on Grants to organizations
  
  
• To receive delegations from the public and conduct public hearings as required by statute and Council
