This is a regular CATCH summary of votes at committee and council meetings. This report covers the month of May 2015. Absentees are only listed where reported in the minutes and where the missing councillors are members of that committee or decision-making body. Parking lot

Staff recommended approval of an official plan amendment and zoning change to add 158 parking spaces at the corner of Ferguson Street and Robert Street to the existing 640 spaces. Committee tabled this item in mid-April and then turned it down at the May meeting of the Planning Committee

Ambulance stretchers

At its May 25 meeting, the emergency and community services committee approved the staff recommendation to for a $1.6 million purchase of stretchers for all ambulances to reduce injuries to paramedics and patients. The decision was ratified by city council with two recorded opponents

Gun amnesty and buyback

A motion by Green was unanimously approved to ask the police services committee to consider and advise Council on the feasibility of an extended gun amnesty and buyback program for unwanted and illegal firearms,owned by residents living in the City of Hamilton.
